Putting into action Total Quality Management
Total Quality Management (TQM) is an organization development (OD) technique used by leaders for continuous improvement in the entire organization. It ranges from high level strategic planning and decision-making, to detailed execution of work elements of the company. Organizations are confronting change situations all the times because it is a way of showing their growth and expansion levels. During times as these, managers are forced to think hard in order to reach the best decisions concerning the whole process of altering the normal functioning of an organization.
The five key parts of focus for ability enhancement are demand generation, supply generation, technology, operations and people- which matters most. If there is a change of systems and processes which could be the origin of errors, those committed by employees may be reduced gradually if not to be eliminated at once.
This is an effective principle, but only if implemented at the right time when it is apparent that crucial change has to be made. For a manager to have realized need for alterations, he or she must have taken a preliminary step of screening the organization present realism. This makes it clear if the improvement is needed on workers, the processes, machinery, and technology among others. TQM implementation should be delayed until the organization is in a state in which this is likely to succeed. If it has major problems such as a very unsound financial foundation, frail administrative systems, poor supervisory skill or employee drive, TQM would be inappropriate.
This is what many learned management experts would want us to believe but in matters of agency, this may not hold. Suppose your customer care is receiving such complaints as poor quality of products and services, reception and the like. If action is not taken speedily, there is risk of loosing loyal clients in no time, and so a wise manager will implement TQM and then aid the entire organization to adapt to this as a matter of pressure.
Need for organizational restructure arise from effects of business environment, which make it harder if such is the external one, which is uncontrollable. However, if a company past record shows a success over and over again to respond to these changes, it would not be any tougher or a bad timing to start implementing the TQM. Conversely, if the past history shows that it has not even been successful in carrying out the SWOT analysis leave alone reaction to changes, implementing TQM will be a bad idea
Using TQM helps eliminate the risk of trouble and ineffective business practices. Having a TQM system in place will help those in charge know what items should be eliminated or improved within the workings of the organization. Businesses, organizations and companies will be able to set up objectives to better conduct business and reach the needs of customers. This lead to a successful business, organization or company as they meet the needs outlined.
